Said he never investigated Democrats in campaing finance probe because he was never asked -- but he was asked and rejected doing an investigation

In an television interview with Texas Monthly Talks, Travis County DA Ronnie Earle was asked if he conducted any investigations into Democrats similar to his investigation into Tom DeLay and he said no because no one asked him to.

However, in 2004 a Republican state senator, Bob Deuell did formally request an inquiry into the campaign finance records of Democrat Congressman Martin Frost. After just a few weeks Earle said there were no irregularities with Frost's PAC, The Lone Star Fund even though his soft money and hard money shared the same bank account number.
