The Duplicitous Mr. Hulshof Wants To Be Missouri Governor

Kenny Hulshof is a non-descript congressman from Columbia, Missouri who thinks he has what it takes to be Governor.  One reason, he tells Show Me State audiences, is that he is of high ethical character because he “stood up” to former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay from his post on the House Committee on Official Standards (Ethics).  Yet, at the same time he was scolding DeLay, the “bold” Rep. Hulshof couldn’t find the courage to utter one word of dispersion about the leading Democrat on the same committee, Alan Mollohan of West Virginia.  Mollohan was accused of funneling more than $179 million of federal dollars to non-profit organizations controlled by his former aides, who may have in turn made him and his wife super wealthy in a Washington, DC real estate scam.

So what did Mr. Hulshof stand up to?  DeLay was never accused of stealing any money.  Rather, his political enemies said he broke a law that didn’t even exist.  In Texas, home to one of the worst judicial systems anywhere, a partisan 30-year District Attorney who historically had no compulsion about using his power to benefit himself and his political allies, trumped up money laundering charges over a political contribution that a national political party organization made so he could change the leadership of the House of Representatives.  Hulshof claimed that his Ethics Committee position gave him access to the details of the case. You’d think this “stalwart” former prosecutor could have seen through a bogus case, but apparently not.  You’d also think he would be concerned that his Democrat compatriot was blindly ripping off the taxpayers even while the West Virginian sanctimoniously judged others, but apparently not.

You see, the national media and leftist establishment reward Republicans for attacking other Republicans and skewer prominent GOP office holders who have the temerity to challenge Democrats.  Maybe currying favor with the liberal crowd drove Hulshof more than his concern about legal violations and ethical conduct.

We at Politically Charged.org are not from Missouri, but that doesn’t stop us from sharing its voters’ desire for honest and dynamic future leadership.  We respectfully submit that another weak-willed Washington politician like Kenny Hulshof isn’t representative of the strong and independent-minded people that comprise such a great state.
